Dr. Deepan Chatterjee is an award-winning clinical psychologist, speaker and writer based in Ellicott City, Maryland. He has given invited talks at several institutional and academic settings, including the American Psychological Association, Maryland Psychological Association, Gallaudet University, Sheppard Pratt Hospital, and Baltimore Ethical Society, among others. He is a regular contributor to several media outlets, newspapers and blogs, including The Statesman, The Telegraph, The Baltimore Sun, India Abroad, The Huffington Post, Psych Central, India America Today and Altarum Institute’s Health Policy Forum, among others. Dr. Chatterjee currently serves as Health Editor for India America Today, an online and print media organization based in the United States. Dr. Chatterjee is also part of the Global Advisory Board for SocioLadder, a global charitable organization that transforms the act of giving through a state-of-the-art online platform with complete transparency of projects and donors.
Dr. Chatterjee earned his Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) in Psychology and Mathematics at Bethany College in West Virginia, USA. He then went on to earn M.S. and Ph. D degrees from Howard University in Washington, DC, where he was a Research and Teaching Fellow. Dr. Chatterjee became licensed as a Clinical Psychologist after completing his residency and postdoctoral training at the maximum-security Patuxent Institution in Maryland. Since then, he has worked in several clinical settings including outpatient, inpatient, as well as private practice, with a variety of patient populations who have psychiatric illnesses.
Dr. Chatterjee currently serves on the Executive Board of Officers of several professional national and international organizations, such as Phi Kappa Tau International Fraternity, American Psychological Association and the Maryland Psychological Association, among others. He has also been elected a Fellow of the Maryland Psychological Association.
Dr. Chatterjee has won many accolades and awards in his relatively short professional career, including the W.F. Kennedy Prize for Most Outstanding Student at Bethany College, the Hawthorne Dissertation Award for the best dissertation at Howard University, the Productivity Star Award at PsychoGeriatric Services, among many others.
